About Us:

The Washington Leadership Program cultivates the South Asian American community's next generation of leaders by placing them in Congressional Offices or Government Agencies for eight-week summer internships and a structured leadership-training curriculum.

How Can I Help?

Your contributions will go directly towards supporting a WLP intern's scholarship, leadership training, and nominal stipend for living expenses.

Who Is In Charge?

The WLP is run completely on a volunteer basis. Please join us in building this pipeline of future leaders!

Looking Back At Summer 2013:

Within the first few weeks, the 2013 WLP Scholars met Congresspersons Ami Bera and Tulsi Gabbard, discussed politics with POLITICO senior congressional reporter Manu Raju, and a panel of South Asian women breaking through the political glass-ceiling. WLP Scholar, Dayani Waas, called her summer experience a "blessing."

Who Participates?:

The WLP received nearly 200 applications in 2013, and nine were chosen after a selective screening process involving recommendations, an essay, and interviews.

Your contributions will enable the WLP to transform the lives of a greater number of South Asian American scholars who all deserve an unforgettable summer experience!
